This was the Jorum fragrance that found me before I found it.
The Fantosmia sample featured here was provided to The Oakmoss & Ivy by Jorum Studio for independent editorial consideration. No payment was received. Gifted product does not determine our conclusions, and the house did not preview or approve the score or review. The 10/10 rating reflects my personal verdict after testing.
When I first opened the parcel, a wonderful spicy, aromatic scent was hanging inside the box. I noticed it immediately, but I had no idea which fragrance was responsible. Once I reached Fantosmia, everything clicked.
The combination of saffron, pepper, pimento, shiso, tobacco, leather, and oud-like woods gives it an unusual personality without sacrificing wearability. It is strange enough to feel niche, but never so abstract that I stop wanting to smell it.
That distinction matters. Some experimental fragrances make me appreciate the perfumer. Fantosmia makes me want to keep smelling my wrist.
There is warmth, spice, and a subtly exotic character here, with tobacco and leather giving the fragrance enough structure to remain grounded. The saffron adds the instantly recognizable radiance I noticed before I had even sprayed it.
Of everything Jorum sent, this is the bottle I would most want sitting on my shelf.
At 10/10, Fantosmia is the clear winner of the Jorum selection for me. It feels artistic without becoming alienating, distinctive without becoming difficult, and genuinely attractive every time I return to it.
