The Oakmoss & Ivy began with Shane Lint’s search for a signature scent—and the suspicion that men deserved more useful guidance than hype, trend cycles, and an expensive shelf of disappointments.
Born and raised in Alabama, Shane watched modern culture increasingly sell immaturity to men through fashion, fragrance, behavior, and the things they were told to buy. He felt an urge to return to something more enduring: discernment, self-command, good manners, and objects chosen because they genuinely improve a life.
The search widened from cologne to the cut of a coat, the care of a beard, and even the quiet architecture of an office. Too much money and time had gone toward products that never lived up to their promises. This journal is the answer—a place where experience is weighed against the claim, and where advice helps men become more considered, capable, and timeless.
